Sorry but I really do not understand why Amazon would want to sell me Anna Karenina for $2.99 when it is free / gratis on Gutenberg.
You can download it here (– for free )
It is the PDF version but if you need it for your e-reader you can format it with Calibre
For a Kindle it would be .mobi

I’ve never thought about reading it, but you have put the idea into my head. Is it as long as ‘War and Peace’?
Feb 02, 2013 @ 06:16:54
Not quite but still about a hefty 1700 pages.
Some says it is the best book ever, judge for yourself

Thank you! Will get it for hubby.
PS: It is not Amazon as such, but a publisher who sells through Amazon!
Feb 02, 2013 @ 06:18:06
But Amazon does have free books. Will people really buy this if it is free in any case?
Feb 02, 2013 @ 07:18:30
I hope not! That is opportunistic and plain blerrie skelm.

As jy in die VSA woon kan jy verniet e-boeke by ‘n biblioteek uitneem en hier moet ons betaal om die boek te koop, So ek voel vere as ek verniet boeke vind!

LOL, I am dying to watch the movie first. But it’s a classic so should be read
Feb 02, 2013 @ 06:23:42
I have only seen the old black and white movie of many decades ago but it is impossible to cover the book in any movie. And one should read at least one Tolstoy …

I tried downloading Calibre 0.9.17.msi and auto Kimble v0.4.50 exe but to no avail. Any ideas ? The mobi files with the Baldacci books have worked fine. Except some pages in this last one were difficult to decipher.

Sometimes one gets this problem with slow internet, mine was given to me by somebody so I update it now and then. If you need books in another format let me know I may just have them. The older books did not have such a good e version, these days it is almost perfect.

It`s raining again today and my input from the net is via satalite so it does slow down a bit. I will try another download, is your computer also giving slow downloads, if so it`s probably a full memory? I tend to fill my with large photo`s that are never used, so must do some more clearing and down sizing the photo`s. Any mystery books would be very welcome, thank you. All the best Leo

For this you have to have an e-reader, quite a good idea to get one anyway
Feb 05, 2013 @ 17:31:47
Thanks, I received them..
Feb 03, 2013 @ 10:01:22
I think it will be a good idea to read/reread the book before seeing the much-applauded movie. Actually, $3 is not out of the way for the convenience of having it Kindle-ready.
Feb 03, 2013 @ 10:19:38
On Gutenburg (sp?) it does comes Kindle friendly free, I just gave the PDF version in case of other readers, each which has its own format. Quite frustrating
Feb 03, 2013 @ 10:45:52
You are right – I have just been reading the opening chapter on my Kindle.
The link for downloading it is:

Thanks!
