Men usually want to know what ladies have in their handbags (also purse or pouch in American English) because it seems full of ‘stuff’ but it is always an endless scratching and searching without coming up with the goodies! And if a cell phone rings, it is a catastrophe if it is hidden away in the bag….They suspect the kitchen sink is in there somewhere too!
In mine:-
Red purse (American wallet?) with credit cards, some cash, my ID and driver’s licensee.
A Pen (well most of the time).
Lipstick and lip-gloss
A spare contact lens
Small bottle of perfume
My asthma pump
Some sweets which you get when you pay at a restaurant
Small pack of tissues
Waterless handwash
Keys
And sometimes my camera.

Nothing out of the ordinary here.
I have a few regular handbags and they each contain Labello and chewing gum. The money and phone have to moved to and fro depending on what bag takes my fancy that day. In my main, big bag I also have handwash, hand lotion, headache tablets, toothpicks and Xylitol because the sweeterners at restaurants have a bitter aftertaste. Always lots of tissues! Torn up pieces of ATM slips, old shopping lists…..

I am trying to find a handbag trolley for my wife so that she doesn’t bend to the left permanently from carrying that weight. 🙂

I can never understand why my bag is so heavy. Of course, I always have my purse, my iPhone, tissues, lip pencil and gloss, notebook and pen, plastic bags for shopping. It all adds up, I suppose. 🙂

It all adds up, yes, I forgot the shopping bag that folds, but my phone I wear in my pocket if I have one – a pocket that is

OK to start of, a bright orange handbag of genuine leather. Everything is in nice and neat zipped bags.
One for ID’s, notebook, pen, pencil and business cards
One with lipstick, pills ect for anti-allergy, headache and Migril for migraine
One for tissues
Bright pink purse
Asthma pump
Kindle if I go somewhere where I have to wait
BlackBerry
Old Nokia phone, for the fantastic camera
The odd thing, like today the list with prices for taps, bath, toilet, shower door basin etc

Well I might start out with nice and neat but it does not remain that way. And yes sometimes my Kindle too. That makes it really heavy. And maybe a clip for my hair.

My Purse is A Feed Bag/WFP/One of the larger ones-
1.) Lipstick first and foremost, reddish, pinkish, mauve-ish, and always some Rose lip balm which can even be applied to other areas, i.e. elbows, eyelids, other dry areas…lest I be a dried prune without it.
2.) Sunscreen with titanium oxide/hat, the three of us are fair, my youngest “the fairest of them all”, “Schneeweiss, (imagine Snow White with white hair?) and the lightest blue eyes I’ve ever seen. My older daughter is blond too, yet not white haired, and her eyes are warm blue like the sea, and her skin a bit more olive like mine once was, before the Lupus, as now the sun actually hurts me. I have often told them that they complete me, as they are the two things I so adore…the sky and the ocean, and are mini versions of me, mini me’s, as I once was, as I once appeared, and thank g-d, as the alternative is too sickening for me to imagine, yuk…looking at him for the rest of my life. I love that verse from the Old Testament, the one which makes reference to you always know who your mother is…funny how appropriate and enlightening I now find these verses from the bible, especially since I am somewhere between agnostic and atheist.
3.) My wallet with zipper, passports for the 3 of us, as to flee in a hurry, should we need to, credit cards, little cash, checkbook, insurance cards for the 3 of us, and yes, pens, pencils, sometimes even a sharpener, sometimes colored pencils and a tablet as we all like to draw.
4.) Bifocals/readers, some more readers, and perhaps a spare set of bifocals, as I seem to be legally blind on some days, somedays better than others, depending on my current medications.
5.) Medications for myself and one of my girls.
6.) Notebook/Calendar, several in fact, as again my ADHD makes it hard for me to only keep one, as the one I have last written in is always missing, so I have a minimum of one, often times two.
7.) If we’re lucky, a brush or comb, as the three of us have long hair, more often than not we wear it up, more often than not mine is in a bun, more often than a brush or comb we have ponytail holders, lots of them, as often times we put our hair up wet, without first brushing it, and then we are done with it for the day, and when we then take it down at night for bed, it is often times still wet.
8.) Snacks, the three of us are all thin, slight in frame/failure to thrive, all hungry at the most inopportune times, and thus, I must prepare for this, as we tend to eat/need small meals throughout our hectic day, and yes, often they include chocolate, the dark chocolate sort, the swiss sort, as I am a snob about my chocolate and most everything else I put in my mouth!
9.) Gum or mints, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS dental floss!
10.) Whatever legal documents I am currently working on and/or in the process of litigating. Reading, writing, correcting, adjusting, etc.
11.) Camera, never leave home without it.
12.) Cell phone.
In other words, everything but the kitchen sink! My mother always asks me if I carry rocks in my bag/purse, as it might rival me in weight and for sure outweighs one of my girls, who weigh about the same amount. She often tells me that it might be the cause of my RA pain, and secretly she might be right, although, I would never tell her this.
Have you ever been talking on your cell phone while frantically riffling through your purse to find it? I must admit I have done this often, often enough, as I’ve even had to run into the house, after pulling the car from the garage as to leave the house for whatever errand, as I’ve thought that I did not have it with me, while talking on the phone all the while.

Yes, it is a whole suitcase, yet, I am the most unorganized person ever, and though I usually have everything I need in this vast abyss, and more 🙂 I tend to take a long while to locate it. Sunnabelle

I try to travel light. I took 7Kg to Italy (but nobody believes me) and try light blouses and slacks and wash most things at night. Heavier thing I wear on the plane and my make-up goes into my handbag. Toiletries I buy on the other side and leave it there.
My daughter goes to Stockholm for 5 nights and takes 20 kg. OK she says as she gives lectures it is some files too
🙂
