Proposal to Ban Drunkenness at UN Budget Debates
One would think it goes without saying that the people determining the budget of the world’s leading international diplomatic organization should be sober when doing so, but apparently, it does not. Diplomats who have participated in the UN’s budget debate sessions say that it is not uncommon to see delegates who are visibly drunk. It is apparently such a significant problem that a US ambassador to the UN has proposed making the negotiating rooms inebriation-free zones.
and we thought this was bad (in 1955)
I’m afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND, it seems every new movie has either HELL or DAMN in it.

Oh my goodness… That has left me somewhat speechless…!
As for Clark Gable and the bad language of 1955…. wouldn’t it be wonderful to have that problem… !!!

One reason I usually avoid such directors as Spike Lee and Quinton Tarrantino.
After an hour of “Yo, effinin Mo Fo” etc etc…Yawn…and even if these directors are considered Hollywood Heroes, quite frankly, my dear Louise,I don’t give a damn.’

I am about to embark on a Brian Aldiss reading stint.
Will the movies you list make me smile or laugh? Not into serious stuff these days.
Saw Hope Springs last night. Merryl Streep and Tommy Les Jones. Smashing film, and superb performances by both of them.

Oh, BTW. I notice you have my Gravatar pic on your display thingy. Nice one!
However, when I click it it goes to the first Gravatar page I put up when I returned from the Wilderness…ha ha.
Those blogs listed are not operational and I do not remember how to change my Gravatar profile.
