Haha we live in one of the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg and there is one across the river, he does not wake me but if I am awake I can hear him at about 5 a m
🙂
I was so disappointed many years ago when I found that chickens don’t crow just at dawn, they crow any time they like, including where I was sleeping. 🙂
There I’d this goergous wine farm in the Cape where they have farm animals I suppose for the children where I saw this rather unfriendly chap.

They do push their luck – at the crack of dawn one is tempted to give them the ‘telephone takeaway’ treatment. Wring-wring … lunch!

On the one hand, the whole farmyard/rural aspect is quite appealing. On the other, I tend to concur with Col. 🙂

Me neither.
But if it’s a choice of them peeing on the floor or me getting up and strolling outside with a cup of tea in hand to greet the dawn..well…

When I was small we had chickens but I cannot recall being woken up. I do remember that the cock kicked me though.
