With reference to my previous (re)blog of the girl who died from cancer after following a quack cure I have come across this story here
It is about time that these quacks are removed from society. For good!
A controversial herbal “healer” and naturopath is under fire after the death of a teen girl he was treating for leukemia using a strict vegan diet and herbal supplements.
The Canadian Broadcasting Company reported on the death of the teen girl, who was from one of Ontario, Canada’s aboriginal First Nation tribes. Another teen girl from the same community is still in the care of Brian Clement, who Florida officials have ordered to stop practicing medicine and calling himself a doctor.
Clement operates the Hippocrates Institute, a spa-cum-clinic in Orlando, Florida where patients with serious diseases have been treated with what the state of Florida is calling “unproven and possibly dangerous therapies.”
Clement urges his patients to forego conventional medicine like chemotherapy in favor of veganism, supplements, juices and a raw diet.
Makayla Sault was 11 years old last July when she left chemotherapy in Hamilton, Ontario, to attend the Hippocrates Institute, which is licensed in Florida as a massage parlor. The girl died in January. The Ontario coroner’s office is investigating.
In the meantime, however, Clement has been ordered to cease and desist in calling himself a doctor — he is licensed only as a nutritionist, not a medical doctor — and to stop providing medical care to patients. The state issued their orders, along with a $3,738 fine, to Clement on Feb. 10. He was given 30 days to respond. He is facing possible felony charges of practicing medicine without a license.

I concur with, this is murder.
Mar 02, 2015 @ 07:12:33
I wonder how much money he makes from this 😡
Mar 02, 2015 @ 09:12:58
This is not nice to read. One has to question the motives of the parents who delivered up the child to this bloke?
I wonder if attention will ever be turned on religious ”faith healers”?
Mar 02, 2015 @ 09:25:10
Yes i would also know if these faith healers are ever held respomsible, doubt it though. In my previous blog it was a young woman who followed a quack cure … disgusting! She died after a great deal of suffering but i am not even sure whether this converted anybody to real medicine. Oh for the stories I hear…..
Mar 02, 2015 @ 09:46:36
There is a place for medicine – just tragic when people ignore this.
Mar 02, 2015 @ 09:51:10
Hang on a minute. People also die from leukemia after going down the chemotherapy route. I have a friend doing that just as write this. Nothing is certain.
Mar 02, 2015 @ 09:53:06
Of course I agree. I have same. But to substitute quack treatments that have no merit is criminal.
Mar 02, 2015 @ 10:02:05
It’s all about quality of life surely. Chemo regimes for particular types of leukemia are so brutal both physically and psychologically that they are only offered to the most robust individuals. Perhaps this girl had simply had enough.
Mar 02, 2015 @ 10:31:34
I do not think the girl had much say? If diagnosed at an early age leukemia have a good chance in most cases. Of course not all. But nowhere in any medical literature would a diet change the course of cancer. Look I would never opt for chemotherapy but neither would I pay a small fortune to a quack. But then I am of age…..
Mar 02, 2015 @ 11:48:12
I have the same thoughts as Tish. People die either way and sometimes we keep people alive for so long but they are as good as dead. They can’t do anything for themselves
Mar 02, 2015 @ 13:18:22
Some can be saved, and in this case it was a child! People can refuse treatment of course but it is criminal to substitute unproven so called cures for medical treatment (Note I do not call them cures for there are no guarantees. ) For a long time I worked at a mine hospital and I cannot begin to tell you how many tragedies I witnessed….. basically people are uninformed and easily swayed by quacks. Medical science can at least offer relief if nothing else, alternative so-called cures cannot!. And this does not come cheap either.
Mar 02, 2015 @ 18:27:30
I agree medical science can sometimes prolong death. It is sad that a child died who may have lived slightly longer. The question would be for me what kind of life?
I am not for woo treatment any day and wouldn’t advocate anyone taking that route. Sometimes it is best to say, in some case, the patient is at rest free from pain and a long wait for death
Mar 03, 2015 @ 05:42:16
But you do know that many cancers can be cured and people live happy healthy lives after treatment? Something like 70% of children with leukemia is the indication. And do not forget some people will do anything just to live a little longer and see a child getting married or something like that…. it is a choice.
Mar 03, 2015 @ 05:43:31
Given he was writing in 1776, their medical science could have been in a bad state.
I agree with you
Mar 02, 2015 @ 13:38:01
Hierdie is ‘n moeilike saak.
Interessante stukkie. Dankie Melouisef.
Mar 02, 2015 @ 13:50:42
Mar 02, 2015 @ 17:05:37
Ek lees in hierdie maand se Marie Claire ‘n artikel nl. Detox is a Myth. Dit verstom my dat mense so gullible is vir sulke alternatiewe behandelings.
Mar 03, 2015 @ 05:45:30
Ja dit is inderdaad n myth. Een of ander sogenaamde guru het seker aan n naam gedink om sy produk te verkoop en die massas glo hom. Jy is reg om dit gullible te noem. Hello vega!
Mar 02, 2015 @ 17:23:38
Ek het vanoggend my hande saamgeslaan toe die man wat my wasmasjien kom koppel het beweer hy is een og ander geneser … Eish …
Mar 03, 2015 @ 05:43:41
ja jy kry natuurlik die helers wat meer kwaad as goed doen….
😦
Mar 03, 2015 @ 11:22:19
We had a similar thing on Mweb a few years ago when we used their site. It`s very hard to know what is true on a blog or anywhere on the web.
Mar 03, 2015 @ 12:28:17
This one unfortunately is true, it was in a newspaper. The previous blog was also in some papers (Australian). Sad.
Mar 09, 2015 @ 16:36:17
Wow, practicing medicine without a license? There is so much not right happening in this world and it just seems to keep getting worse!!
Mar 09, 2015 @ 16:44:33
One tends to overlook the fact that there are just too many people on the earth so it is getting easier by the day to get away with murder.
